New Runway at Collin County Regional Airport in McKinney Texas

The Collin County Regional Airport in McKinney Texas has a new runway that opened last week. The new 7000 foot runway at the airport, which is both wider and longer than the other runways allows for larger jets to land at the airport. At 7,002 feet long and 150 feet wide it has a weight bearing capacity of 450,000 pounds that will allow the airport to accomodate larger, heavier jets including commercial flights. 

To date it is the largest single development project in Texas Department of Transportation Aviation history. Other new upgrades at the facility include a new air traffic control tower along with new regional incentives for other cities in Collin County.
